Dear Dave,
I love to do home improvement projects. One of the easiest and cheapest things I have found to do to make a change in my house is to paint. I am always looking at the new colors that come out on HGTV and those decorating magazines. It seems like most houses these days have quite a bit of color in them, things aren’t just white or beige anymore. What do you think about painting the interior of a house with some of the new colors – like the color Rose Quartz by Pantone? I would like my home to be modern, but is changing to this color going too far?

Tiffany,
I couldn’t agree more – there’s something truly magical about the transformation that a fresh coat of paint can bring to a home. It’s like giving your space a whole new lease on life without breaking the bank. Plus, with so many exciting paint colors and trends out there, it’s no wonder you find yourself drawn to the idea of incorporating some of the latest hues into your home.
The world of interior design has indeed evolved over the years. Homes today are no longer restricted to the tried-and-true palette of whites and beiges. It’s all about embracing color, texture, and personality. Now, the question arises: Is going for a color like Rose Quartz taking things too far? The short answer is no, but there are some important considerations to keep in mind.
First and foremost, your home should be a reflection of your personal style and taste. If you love the idea of Rose Quartz and it resonates with your vision for a modern home, then go for it! After all, your home is your sanctuary, and it should make you feel comfortable and happy.
However, it’s also essential to be mindful of balance. As you rightly pointed out, too much of a good thing can sometimes be overwhelming. Instead of painting every room in Rose Quartz, consider using it strategically as an accent color. Accent walls are a fantastic way to introduce a bold hue without overpowering the entire room.
Think about which spaces in your home could benefit from a pop of color. Perhaps it could be a feature wall in your living room or a vibrant backdrop for your home office. By doing this, you create focal points that draw attention and add character to your home without going overboard.
One final piece of advice: When it comes time to sell your home in the future, be prepared to repaint those accent walls with a more neutral color. While Rose Quartz might be your current love, potential buyers might have different tastes. A neutral backdrop allows them to envision their own style and preferences in the space.
In conclusion, Tiffany, I say go for it! Paint your home with the colors that make you feel alive and inspired. So, pick up that paintbrush and let your creativity flow. And don’t worry too much about cutting in corners – with a little practice, you’ll get the hang of it!
